The Kenya Sugar Board invites innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs, institutions, technology developers and industry problem-solvers to submit practical innovations for consideration at the Sugar Industry Innovation Symposium & Expo 2026.
We are looking for ideas and solutions that respond to real industry challenges, unlock new opportunities and contribute to a more productive, efficient, resilient and sustainable sugar industry.
A submission may be a concept, prototype, technology, research-led solution, process improvement, business model or commercialisation roadmap. A finished product is not required. What matters is a credible pathway towards practical application.

Innovation with a pathway to impact
Application Potential
Explain how the idea, technology, process, research output or business model could be tested, adopted, commercialised or scaled.
Innovation & Differentiation
Demonstrate a new approach, meaningful improvement or creative application of knowledge or technology.
A Clear Pathway Forward
A finished product is not required, but the proposal must show how the innovation can progress towards real-world implementation.
This is not a conventional academic-paper competition.
Research-based submissions are welcome where they translate evidence into a practical solution, intervention, technology or commercial opportunity. Purely descriptive work without a clear application pathway is unlikely to progress.

Your paper should clearly present:
- Innovation or paper title
- Author name(s) and organisation, where applicable
- Corresponding author's email and telephone details
- Abstract — maximum 150 words
- The problem or opportunity being addressed
- The proposed innovation or solution
- Expected industry value or impact
- Evidence, prototype, implementation pathway or commercialisation approach, where applicable

Applicants whose innovations progress are shortlisted for the next stage.
Decision
The outcome and relevant next steps are communicated using the applicant's registered email.
Symposium & Judging
Selected innovators may proceed to presentation and the Innovation Awards judging process.
